Exaltation of the Cross

This weekend we pause from Ordinary Time to celebrate the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. This feast is an opportunity to pause and contemplate what the Cross means to me. I rejoice in the Cross of Jesus because through His death on the Cross, I am shown God’s great love for us. He gave His only Son for our salvation so we could have eternal life. I am also consoled through the Cross. In my times of deepest pain and suffering, I have spent time just staring (through tears) at the crucifix. Christ understands my suffering because He suffered so much more that we can imagine. He feels my pain and is with me in that pain.
What does the Cross mean for you this week? May you reflect on our Scripture for this weekend and spend time in prayer, deeply reflecting on what this feast means to you.
