Are you ready?

Are you ready?

It is hard to believe that Christmas is already next weekend. I
want to remind everyone of a few things.
Since Christmas is on a Sunday this year, please be aware that
we follow our Christmas schedule for Masses and do not
follow the normal Sunday Mass Schedule. This means that
we will celebrate the Christmas Masses on Saturday,
December 24, at 5:30pm and 10:30pm. And on Christmas Day
at 9:30am.

Incense: During these special solemnities, it is appropriate to
use incense at Mass. For those who have an allergy or
intolerance to incense, the 9:30am Christmas Day Mass will
not have incense. Additionally, during the Christmas season,
there will not be incense at the 8:30am Masses. There will,
however, usually be incense at the other Masses. I hope this
helps people plan so that all can fully participate in the
Christmas season at St. Pius X.

A Christmas Story
On Saturday, December 24, before the 5:30pm Christmas Eve
Mass, I will read a story to any of the children present. I will
begin reading the short story around 4:50pm. This Mass is
attended by many and so it fills up early. I hope this helps
keep the attention of those young ones as we wait to
celebrate the Christmas Mass together.

Last chance for the Sacrament of Penance
It is the custom for many people to seek the sacrament of
reconciliation before we celebrate the Nativity of the Lord.
Here are a few options for you:

  • Tuesday, December 20: There is a penance service for individual confession at Holy Redeemer Parish. There will be several priests available for confessions starting at 6:30pm. We go as long as there are penitents.
  • Thursday, December 22: This will be the last chance for confession at St. Pius X. I will hear confessions from 4-5pm.

Please Note: There are no confessions on Christmas Eve as we will be celebrating the Christmas liturgies.
