Eucharistic Renewal

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Next weekend we will celebrate The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, also known as Corpus Christi. On this solemnity, we remind ourselves about the gift of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, and that we are witnesses to our belief of the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.

Starting on Corpus Christi Sunday, the bishops of the United States are commencing a three-year Eucharistic renewal process.  During the first year, the diocese will offer opportunities for parishes, staffs, catechists, and the wider church to grow and learn about the Sacrament of the Eucharist.  During the second year, parishes are encouraged to focus on the Eucharist in faith formation so that we can continue to understand how the Eucharist is the “source and summit” of the Christian life. Finally, the third year is meant to be the transformation phase, how the Eucharist as spiritual food provides all of us with the grace to go out into the world and to set it on fire with God’s love and grace.

To commemorate the beginning of the Diocesan Eucharistic Renewal process, there will be a Eucharistic procession.  Any one from the diocese is invited to attend this procession.  Here are the details:

Join us for a diocesan Eucharistic procession to begin the multi-year Eucharistic Revival on Sunday, June 19, the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi), at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew.  The procession will begin immediately following the noon Mass; which is in Spanish and the procession is bilingual. The route will be approximately one mile and will return to the cathedral at its conclusion and end with Benediction.

All are welcome to join for this special occasion.  Bring your strollers and wagons and make it a prayer-filled family outing for Father’s Day!

At St. Pius X, we will commemorate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, with Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction at the conclusion of all the Masses.  We will spend 10 minutes in prayer after Communion.  For those who are unable to stay for this time of prayer, I ask that you depart in silence and with reverence while the rest of us remain in prayer.

In Christ’s love and friendship,

Fr. Stephen
