The Second Sunday of Advent

Dear Parishioners,
I know that I have been away for a significant amount of time over the
past several weeks. During this time, my energy and focus has been on
one of the many pressing needs in our diocese, our Grand Rapids
seminarians. In early November I was able to spend one week with the
men at Mundelein Seminary near Chicago. At the end of November, I
spent a separate week encouraging our seminarians in formation at
Saint John Vianney College Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. Your understanding and support have been instrumental in allowing me this time to
fulfill this important responsibility.
One highlight over the past month was taking a group of about 20 men
to visit the seminary. Witnessing the enthusiasm and devotion among
these young men gives us great hope that God is actively calling men to
embrace a vocation to the priesthood. Your prayers and encouragement
continue to play a vital role in fostering these vocations, not only within
our parish community, but within our Diocese as a whole.
Additionally, I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity to go on a
spiritual retreat at the end of October. This time of reflection and prayer
is not only a personal renewal but also a critical element in sustaining
the vibrancy of my ministry as your pastor. A strengthened spiritual
foundation enables me to serve with greater love, compassion, and
pastoral care.
Your continued support and prayers are greatly appreciated!
In Christ’s love and friendship
