Humility & Hospitality

Our readings this weekend discuss humility and hospitality. When reflecting on the readings, I initially thought that I am doing pretty good with this area…not so humble I admit! Then when digging a little deeper, I had some questions that hit me hard and possibly they will for you as well. We all can be good about welcoming people, but there are those moments that we close our hearts. Think about it, who doesn’t think about accepting an invitation based on comfort level, who may be there, will I have fun, etc.? Who is your heart closed to right now, and it is hard to let them in? What needs to be unlocked so you can invite them in? Maybe it is past hurts, betrayals, disappointments, but we all have those people in our lives that we are guarded against. Perhaps they are people with whom you should be the closest. How do you need to forgive others this week, knowing that God forgives you? Invite in those people who are not able to repay you, “for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”
