Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Waiting is HARD! We wait for many things throughout our lifetime….some are small and some are big. We are asked to be patient during these times of waiting, which is not easy depending on what we are waiting for. I always thought I had an abundance of patience and then I was blessed with a child who would test that ability regularly.

Our readings this weekend present us with examples of faithfulness and courage and how to wait. Jesus asks us “be like those waiting for their master to return.” Waiting is faithfulness and a holy longing, not a destination for us to achieve. We seem to want to accomplish things and yet we miss the invitation if we look at our faith through that lens.

This week ask, where is God in my waiting? What am I being prepared for and how can I grow through patience? It is not an easy task as we all want to accomplish things quickly. How can you shift your perspective and look at your waiting as a promise not yet fulfilled and yet be confident that you will be fulfilled.
