Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time


Leprosy is not something we are familiar with, as it is not prevalent in the US today so, what can we take from our readings this weekend. In the time these Scriptures were written, leprosy was a well-known condition that disfigured and changed people. If we think about what disfigures and changes people today, I think we can liken leprosy to sin.

As we approach Lent, what sins do you carry that have changed you and made you a person you don’t want to be? The leper in our Gospel begs Jesus to make him clean and Jesus wills it. Where do we need to be cleansed and made clean? God perpetually and unconditionally loves us and will forgive us. All we have to do is ask.
