Twenty-Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

This weekend we hear the apostles say to Jesus, “Increase our faith!” If you are like me, you have likely said these words or something similar. We want more faith or faith that will move mountains or change things. We turn to Him because things are hard and we want things to be different, rather than trusting Him. When we say increase our faith, in a way we are saying, fix me so I don’t doubt you!
We hear Jesus challenge the apostles and us: you have faith, you don’t need more. Faith is not something we have, rather it is what we do. How do you turn to Jesus and trust Him with unwavering faith? Faith is trusting Jesus in each step of the journey. Trusting Him on the easy path and the challenging one. This week, how are you reminded that you have enough faith; you just need to rely on that faith? May we see our faith journey as not something to be changed, rather the point of our journey and trust that He is with us.
